I’m excited to announce that as of November 12th 2018, I will be joining Automattic – the company behind WordPress.com, Akismet and more – as a JavaScript Engineer.
This is the culmination of a 3 year journey to focus more deeply on JavaScript, and my new role provides me with the opportunity to work in a JS-heavy environment on a daily basis. What’s more, Automattic’s distributed setup, means I get to ditch my 3 hour daily commute, affording me more time with my young family and greater flexibility with the commitments of life.
This, of course, means I’ll be leaving the folks at Mr B & Friends. I’m sad to be leaving, but I’ve had a fantastic 4 years working with a great team of fun and like-minded individuals. I’ve grown as an individual and had the opportunity to stretch my knowledge on a wide variety of challenging projects.
I’d like to pay particular thanks to Simon (CEO) and Steve (Executive Creative Director) for being such fantastic bosses and affording me a level of support – both personally and for my career – which is genuinely rare in today’s modern workplace. If you’re looking for somewhere to work in the Bristol/Bath area, I cannot recommend them highly enough.
I am very excited about embarking on this next chapter in my life/career and I’m looking forward to making my mark at Automattic.
